Supporting Organisations Running Projects relating to Gun and Knife Crime
Following bereavement through gun or knife crime the families and friends of victims often feel compelled to find solutions that address issues relating to gun and knife crime.
For many this is something positive they can do in the face of such indescribable loss, creating a positive legacy in memory of the person who died. Many set up groups with one or more of the following objectives:
Victims and their families come to develop these projects as ordinary individuals whose lives have been irrevocably changed by crime. Many struggle to develop the infrastructure of their organisation and therefore struggle to secure funding or get their voices heard by policy makers.
This two year project will see the development of a network of victim-led organisations who want to run their own projects to impact on gun and knife crime.
The main aims of the project are:
As well as access to capacity building advice and training, this network will provide opportunities for mutual support between client organisations and the opportunity to work in partnership. The project will also provide best practice toolkits, factsheets and policy updates to support the work of client organisations.
Project Ethos and Management
The project will be managed by a dedicated Capacity Building Officer who will provide one to one advice and support as well as facilitate network meetings. However, a central tenet of this network is that it will be steered, shaped and directed by the clients it exists to help.
The network will enable members themselves to define the support they need from it. This could include anything from bespoke training to arranging collective meetings with policy makers.
If you think the Victim-led Organisations Network could help you, please contact CSAS for an informal chat about your work or project idea and to find out more about joining.
